111 B.C.: China took over Vietnam, when it was called Nam Viet.
1802: Nyugun Anh united the country and named it
Vietnam.
1858: The French began their conquest of Vietnam. They were able
to take over and ruled from the 1860’s until the 1880’s.
World War Two, from 1940 to 1945: Japan gained control of
Vietnam, as well as many other Asian countries in hope of making one large
empire sharing trading items and resources.
1946: The French tried to gain control of Vietnam yet again.
In the same year, war broke out between the French and the Vietnamese. Almost 10
years later, Vietnam defeated France.
1954: War in Vietnam broke out yet again. This time it was North
Vietnam vs. South Vietnam. The United States of America took part in this war,
on the side of South Vietnam.
1975: The war ended, the North wining and making the entire country
communist.
